From June 7 to 10, 2010, "First IWA Workshop on Off-Flavours in the Aquatic Environment in China " was held in Suzhou, the meeting invited the international experts on T&O who come from IWA, Chinese Academy of Sciences Eco-Environment Research Center, Institute of Hydrobiology, Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Urban Planning and Design, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and so on. Water Technology Research Center for Zhengzhou water supply corporation attended the meeting.
Currently, it is a general problem in many cities that the drinking water taste and odor is unsatisfied. Along with the improving demand on drinking water quality from the consumers, it has been a uphill challenge to water supply industries that how to solve the water T&O effectively.
At the meeting, the topic on the measurement of T&O, algae and T&O, T&O in source water and drinking water, control technologies and strategies for were discussed. During the seminar, hands-on training for odor and water testing was held by Prof. Andrea Dietrich(Virginia Tech., USA) and Prof. Tsair-Fuh Lin(Cheng Kung Univ., SG on Off Flavour in Aquatic Environment, IWA).
Through the meeting, we achieved further understanding on the international research advance, interests, identify methods and analytical techniques of T&O. The broaded vision, improved professional level will make us understand and recognize more deeply on the development of the future works.
